This is the OEM axle shaft out of a 95 or newer XJ. Directly bolts in to any XJ, ZJ, TJ front end without Central Axle Disconnect. This axle shaft is equipped with the much larger (Dana 44 size) Spicer 297X u-joint (94 and older XJ's use the small 260X u-joint). This is a genuine Dana brand inner and outer axle shaft set. This is a must have upgrade for any 94 or older XJ running 32" or larger tires, especially with a front locker. Also a good upgrade for old, fatigued and rusty axle shafts. For 33-35" tires (up to 13.5" wide) with a front locker, we recommend the complete set with the stronger Spicer 760X u-joint and our Almost Alloy kit installed and ready to bolt in.

ZJ Owners: This is an EXCELLENT upgrade for ZJ's to convert their CV axles to heavier duty U-joint axles.

Note: The passenger side axle shaft is not compatible with the Central Axle Disconnect system found on some vehicles. The Central Axle Disconncect system can be eliminated and replaced with this one piece axle shaft for a great strength upgrade. This requires a new axle seal. Our optional Central Axle Disconnect block-off plate allows you to remove the disconnect module and cover the opening for a clean appearance. The disconnect module could also be left in place, or removed and the opening could be left open.

Excellent budget upgrade over original stock

These axles are a good option over stock. They are a OEM upgrade with a microalloy composition meaning they do not have the tensile strength of 4340 Chromolly but will be fine for mild upgrades on a close to stock jeep (as mine is). These are fine for larger tires (up to 35") but with the tensile strength if you have a dana 30 geared with a locker on a large lift with and do moderate to hard off-roading, a higher tensile strength steel would be recommended. The finish of the axles was good and they went together easy (use the right tool to press u-joints in). The axles went in with no issue and are fine for my application. Andy from IRO was very helpful when I purchased them. I do wish there was an option at the time of purchase for a grease-able ujoint as an upgrade, but the u-joints included are of good quality. Since there a a million options for axles these days it is important to choose the correct part for your application. If your not sure ask IRO, they will help you. I do recommend these to replace old axles on a budget with mild upgrades over stock. I am happy with the product and the quality. Difficulty to assemble and install is a 2.5 out of 5. Time including assembling axles and installing was about 3 hours on the ground (I am slow and methodical).
